Letter:

Dear President Kabila

I am deeply concerned about the case of Justine Masika Bihamba who works in east Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) documenting sexual violence against women as well as evidence of war crimes.

In 2007 armed men broke into Justine’s home, tied up her family and demanded where their mother was. One daughter was sexually assaulted, the other beaten. Justine’s driver and daughter identified the perpetrators as guards for a Colonel Mosala but to date no action has been taken.

I urge you to take immediate steps to bring the perpetrators of this attack to justice. Please take action to protect Justine Masika Bihamba and to ensure that all human rights defenders in the DRC can work without fear.

Yours sincerely
