Your Excellency
I am concerned at reports of the arrest and harassment of members of the Kajbar Dam Committee who have been protesting at the lack of consultation in the development of plans for the construction of the Kajbar dam. In particular they are concerned that their villages will be flooded and their communities displaced.
While I welcome the recent release of the members of the committee I am concerned at the risk of further arrests and intimidation.
I urge you to take immediate steps to ensure that all the members of the Kajbar Dam Committee and campaigners against the construction of the dam, are protected and allowed to pursue their legitimate work in defence of human rights safely and without fear of arrest or intimidation.
Yours sincerely
