UAE: Prosecution of human rights defender Mr Mohammed Saqr Al-Zuabee

Front Line has been following with concern the prosecution of human rights defender Mr Mohammed Saqr Al-Zuabee in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The final judgment in his case is expected on 23 June 2010.

Mohammed Saqr Al-Zuabee works as a representative of the Public Prosecution in Abu Dhabi, and is a board member of the UAE Jurists Association. The Jurists Association is an organisation which, through its Human Rights Committee, focuses on human rights education and conducts seminars and symposia which are subject to government approval. Front Line previously issued an Urgent Appeal concerning harassment and restrictions against the Jurists Association and its members on 11 September 2009.
