Ongoing harassment of human rights defender Mr Abdoulaye Math and colleagues in MDDHL
Front Line received news on 25 May 2004, from the Movement for the Defence of Human Rights and Liberties (MDDHL) that threats and harassment are continuing against them because of their work for human rights in Cameroon. Mr Abdoulaye Math, President of MDDHL, was called to the police station of Maroua on 22 May where a complaint against him had been sent from Douala. Investigations by MDDHL, who got in touch with the alleged plaintiff, revealed that this person had never pushed a claim against Mr Math. The MDDHL has several other court cases pending against them.
