Front Line has been following with concern the prosecution of human rights defender Mr Mohammed Saqr Al-Zuabee in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The final judgment in his case is expected on 23 June 2010. 

Human rights defenders Mr Roberto Malini and Mr Dario Picciau were informed on 12 February 2010 that they had been sentenced, on 5 November 2009, to the payment of a fine for disturbing a police operation in Pesaro in December 2008. Roberto Malini and Dario Picciau are co-presidents of EveryOne Group, a non-governmental organisation supporting Roma people and refugees. 

Human rights defender Mr Wada Maman is facing charges of property damage and public participation in an unauthorised gathering following his release from detention on bail on 26 August 2009. 

Update

The trial of Bahraini human rights defender Mohamed Abdul Nabi Al-Maskati for “running an unlicenced association” has been adjourned until 15 January 2009. Mohamed Abdul Nabi Al-Maskati is the founder of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights (BYSHR), which organises training workshops, monitors and documents human rights violations and participates in forming a regional network for young human rights activists in eight Arab countries.
